Felicia Mancini wins ACNM award!

Congratulations to the amazing midwife, Felicia Mancini, from Albuquerque, NM for winning the prestigious Mary Ann Shah New Author Award at the recent ACNM Convention in Boston. Felicia won this award for her article on Postpartum Depression that appeared in the Journal for Women's Health and Midwifery. I happen to KNOW this woman because she used to live here in San Francisco and I was honored to attend the birth of her daughter at home and her twins in the hospital. Now she's famous!! I knew her first!

More on Aradia!

Aradia Zorah Snyderman

Aradia
literally from the latin "ara" emanating from "dia" goddess
Queen of the Witches
Daughter of Diana
Represented the Moon
In Strega folklore, she came to earth to teach Diana's Magick to the witches, the poor and the dispossesed

Zorah
We wanted her her initials to be A Z, so she could be anything she wanted to be Alpha to Omega, the whole spectrum of choices. There are many variations of this name:
Hebrew: she shines
Slavic: aurora, dawn
Arabic: The blooming, and the planet Venus, which governs Taurus the bull

Snyderman
We agreed years ago that if we conceived a girl, she would get Todd's last name Snyderman. If we conceived a boy, he would get Sarah's last name Cohen.
Fate decided to bless us with a girl, so her last name is Snyderman.

The Birth Tour

Thank you to Ahri and Tania, the inspiration behind The Birth Tour. This is an initiative to keep our birth stories alive by gathering in small groups to talk about birth. They recorded birth stories from around the country last year and edited them down to a one hour program for public radio. You can purchase the program at their website, Thin Air Media. They are now working on a sequel, called Born, that will be about postpartum. Can't wait until September when it will be heard around the country!!
